Transforming An Old Leaf Into A Beautiful Butterfly

 

I believe beauty is everywhere.  Sometimes it is quite obvious - a very fragrant red rose; the vivid colours in a sunset - other times you need to take a closer look.

What if I told you that this leaf could become a butterfly?

 
 

I found this leaf on the lawn, brought in by the wind from the Flame Tree a few doors down.

My intention was to capture the intricate details in the skeleton.  But instead of taking a closer look at the leaf, I took a step back and saw the whole picture.

 
 

The old leaf, discarded by the tree had been transformed by the reflection into a beautiful, golden, lace butterfly.

Details:  Canon 7D, Canon 100mm f/2.8L macro lens, f/8.0, 15 seconds, ISO 100 using a tripod and remote shutter release.
